Welcome to ImIsion 369. There are only two rules to playing ImIsion: (1) all shapes must be used, and (2) no shapes may overlap. You can view a solution to each puzzle by selecting 'Explode' from the 'Objects' menu, but remember this is only one of possibly numerous solutions. A correct solution is anything that satisfies therules above and fits totally within the Schema (a full size outline of the puzzle).
The name ImIsion is a combination of the words imaging and vision and 369 is an abbreviation for 30/60/90 triangle. The name ImIsion 369 encompasses the basic techniques and objects the software utilizes. Using ImIsion 369 involves imaging and visualizing constructs based on the 30/60/90 triangle. In the same manner, ImIsion 449 encompasses imaging and visualization of constructs based on the 45/45/90 triangle.
ImIsion is an adventure that engages a user's ability to image and visualize inherent divisions within abstract shapes. It is not a game or a puzzle, though it has entertainment value. It is a work of art and a tool - aesthetic software with a specific purpose. It engages the intellect, specifically the analytical and creative intellect. ImIsion will utilize a user's capacity for spatial reasoning, lateral thinking, critical thinking, aesthetic perception, imagination, imaging, foresight, and sense of proportion. ImIsion and its tools assist in creative accomplishment, and are void of anything that may detract from accomplishment. Playing ImIsion will refine skills through unstructured and unconscious learning. It engages user against self and, with its tools, can be tailored to most any age or level of intelligence.
The ImIsion series is designed for use by all ages. Certain software tools are provided to help a beginning child and an accomplished career person. Strategies behind using the tools are described in the ImIsion literature, Discourse on ImIsion. Below is a brief description of certain levels of play and how tools are used at each level.
Beginner: The user will manipulate shapes using the control panel. Explode (located in the Objects menu) will be used to duplicate the animus. The user will become familiar with characteristics of shapes and how they are manipulated.
Intermediate: The user will begin to manipulate shapes using the Action Window or the control panel. Explode will evolve into a tool to check completed work. It will be used less as a construction device.
Advanced: The user will fully utilize the Action Window and begin to discover other tools. The schema will provide an outline boundary for construction. The hairlines (designlines and framelines) will be used for symmetric comparisons. Explode will become trivial as the user realizes it offers only one of many potential solutions. The user will begin to image and imagine likely solutions.
Master: The user will use Locked Hairlines (located in the Objects menu) to proportionally translate the animus into a full sized construct. The schema will evolve in the same way as Explode, being used to check completed work and less as a construction device. The user will try rebuilding the animus using added constraints (i.e use only the schema, then use only hairlines). Explode will become worthless as checking a construct with combination of tools will garentee a correct construct.
